Harbola artistes entertained the audience reciting poems penned by leading poets at a programme held on Sunday at Music and Dance Centre auditorium of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
Artistes recited poems addressing love, culture, history and social issues at the show, titled ‘Harbolar Ek Kuri, which was organised by Harbola marking its 20th founding anniversary.
Recitation artist Mahfuz Masum recited poems like Khokoner Sunglass by Humayun Ahmed, Loken Boser Journal by Jibanananda Das, Putul by Shuvo Dasgupta and Amar Bondhu Biboron by Bhashwar Chowdhury.
Tamanna Tithi recited poems like Sobcheye Sundor Golpo by Halima Khatun, Nodir Sopno by Buddhadev Basu and Gaaner Aral by Kazi Nazrul Islam.
Nayla Tarannum recited Porichoy by Tanvir Mokammel, Mari Farar by Bertolt Brecht, Bangali Sopnopote by Kamrul Hasan, Ami E Sei Meye by Shuvo Dasgupta, Itihas Kotha Koy by Jhorna Sarker and Jar Mathay Etir Jotroboloy by Samsur Rahman.
Mahfuz Rizvee recited selected parts from Meghnath Bodh by Michael Madhusudan Dutta, Amar Biye by Sanjib Chattopadhyay and others.
Ashraful Hasan Babu recited Jononi Jonmobhumi Theke by Nirmol Sen, Joltoronga by Arani Basu and Pilsujer Upor Pitoler Pradip by Rabindranath Tagore.
A houseful audience enjoyed the show.
‘This was the 7th recitation show organised by Harbola marking its 20th anniversary. Previously the organisation organised six shows including a solo recitation show of Jayanta Chattapadhyay celebrating its 20 years,’ Zahir, a member of Harbola, told New Age.
‘Recitation shows like these inspire us to read literature. I hope the organisers will arrange more such shows in future’, Suhi Rahaman, an audience member, told New Age.
