Artistes presented Rudra Mohammad Shahidullah’s popular poems and songs at a programme held on Friday at Naat Mandal of Dhaka University.
Artistes presented poems and songs addressing rustic life, social anomalies, capitalism, human relations and other issues at the show, titled ‘Brishtir Jonno Prarthona’, which was organised by Prakash Shahittya Shangskritik Sangathan.
PSSS artistes in their solo and group presentations recited fifteen poems of Rudra Mohammad Shahidulla. Besides, PSSS artiste Dolon Rani rendered a few popular songs of the poet.
In solos, Pappu recited poems like Barbar Apnar Chokh, Hey Amar Bisshono Sundar and Bristir Jonno Prarthona. Mohohana recited Ay Kemon Bhranti Amar, Tamate Rakhal, Manuser Manchitro- 4 and Ami Sei Obhiman, Mahabub recited Tero Pai, Ulta Ghuri and Sasthosommoto Prottakhan, and Dolon recited Sopno Jagania.
PSSS artistes in group recited the popular poem Ishtehar and others.
Dolon Rani sang songs like Bhalo achi bhalo theko, Amar bhitor o bahire ontore ontore, O nithur doriya, Boro kosto mone rajar hati chaira dise sokol kichu khaite and Chinite na pari dar.
‘The songs and poems of Rudra Mohammad Shahidullah bring to light plight of people, social anomalies, human relations and other issues. I have really enjoyed the show. I hope they will organise more similar programmes in future’, Al Amin Sourov, an audience member, told New Age.
