Sirajganj Municipality announced its annual budget of Tk 121.5 crore for 2018-19 fiscal on Thursday.
Mayor Syed Abdur Rouf Mukta unveiled the biggest ever budget since its establishment in 1869 in a session at the municipality’s Digital Hall Room in Sirajganj town.
Political leaders, eminent citizens of the town and journalists joined the session and discussed various issues to address in the next fiscal for the betterment of the dwellers.
The discussants urged for making a master plan, evicting the grabbers from municipality lands and footpaths, modernisation of kitchen markets, building a centre for cultural activists, repairing the district’s first Shaheed Minar near Eliot Bridge, development of slums, observing the 150th founding anniversary of the municipality in April
2019 and improving sewerage system and healthcare for low income group people.
District Awami League senior vice-president Sirajul Islam Khan, chamber president Abu Yusuf Surja and senior journalist Aminul Islam Chowdhury spoke as special guests.
Panel mayors Helal Uddin and Golam Mostafa, executive engineer Shahjahan Ali, secretary Lutfor Rahman, accountant Md Anisuzzaman and administrative officer Masud Rana were present.
