‘A bus of New Vision Paribahan hit the minister’s car from the back in front of Suhrawardy Hospital at about 9:00pm. It hit the car slightly and the home minister was unhurt,’ Sher-e-Bangla Nagar police station sub-inspector Md Yadul Huq told New Age.
He said that they came to know that the minister’s car was heading towards his Dhanmondi house from National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases where he went to visit a patient.
The police officer said that they seized the bus and detained its 22-year-old driver Ibrahim Khalil Emon.
Earlier, students of school and colleges took to the street on July 29 for road safety and justice for their two fellows, killed by a bus that ploughed through a crowd of students and others for transport at Kurmitola in Dhaka.
The protests flared up across the country but ended on the ninth straight day on August 6 following attacks on the protesters by police and ruling Awami League and its associate body activists in Dhaka and elsewhere.
