A Dhaka court on Friday remanded actress Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed for two more days in police custody over going live on Facebook with ‘rumours’ during the recent student protests.
Metropolitan magistrate Amirul Haider Chowdhury ordered her to be taken in for two-day remand after police placed her before the court wanting her in custody for questioning again.
On August 5, Nawshaba was placed on a four-day remand after police produced her before the court with a seven-day remand prayer.
Inspector Rafiqul Islam of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, also investigation officer in the case filed under the ICT Act, said that police had sought 10-day remand for her.
Nawshaba was held from Uttara in the capital on August 4 for allegedly spreading rumours on social media about the student protests. Police said that she did so to create anarchy and confuse people.
