Professor Chowdhury Mofizur Rahman has been appointed as the vice-chancellor of United International University.
President Abdul Hamid, also the chancellor of the university appointed Mofizur for a four-year term in the post, said a press release on Wednesday.
He was the pro-vice chancellor of the same university for three consecutive terms, the release said.
Mofizur Rahman was a former professor of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and served as faculty in computer science and engineering department for 15 years.
Professor Mofizur obtained his PhD and MSc in computer science from the Tokyo Institute of Technology in 1996 and Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology in 1992 respectively.
He also obtained his BSc in electrical and electronic engineering from BUET in 1989
He served as a joint coordinator of European Union funded eLINK, cLINK and FUSION project for awarding undergraduate, masters and PhD scholarship to students of Asian universities to study in European universities.
Mofizur has 119 publications in different journals of home and abroad.
