60 artists participate in group show

Sixty artists are displaying 67 artworks at a week-long group show underway at Abinta Gallery of Fine Arts in North Badda.
The show titled ‘The Oriental’ was inaugurated on Saturday by art critic Burhanuddin Khan Jahangir. Noted sculptor Hamiduzzaman Khan and artist Rokeya Sultana were presented as special guests at the inauguration programme.
The displayed 67 artworks were selected from 170 artworks submitted by fine arts students, self-taught artists and visual artists from across the country.
Chairperson of Abinta Gallery of Fine arts Nilu Rowshan Murshed will distribute awards among the top three artists at the closing ceremony of the exhibition.
Azmir Hossain will receive Abinta Grand Award while Munmun Nahar and Samia jaman will receive Abinta Excellence Award.
The displayed paintings depict nature, tradition and other themes.
Artist Balodev Adhikary has displayed an acrylic on paper work depicting rustic life. The painting shows women bathing in river and collecting water.
Mintu Bala’s watercolor work titled ‘Landscape 2’ shows a rainbow.
Bikash Annada Setu’s tempera on paper work titled ‘For the Public’ show journey of human civilisation.
Hasiba Yasmin’s watercolour on paper work titled ‘Power 1’ shows a Bull crossing an imaginary road.
The exhibition will end on August 13.
