Bangladesh Under-23 football team came from behind to beat Chodang University by 3-1 goals in the third and final match of their South Korea tour, as part of their preparation for the forthcoming Asian Games.
Ui Chan Joung of Chodang University gave home side the lead before Biplu Ahmed, substitute Matin Mia and Ashraful Islam Rana scored a goal apiece for the visitors to earn their back-to-back wins of the tour.
Joung beat goalkeeper Ashraful Islam Rana with an angular shot inside the box after availing a through pass inside the danger zone in the 17th minute.
The visitors tried to establish their authority in the midfield and pressed hard for the equaliser.
Biplu Ahmed levelled the score-line for Bangladesh in the 39th minute.
The Korean University side looked out of gas in the second half and the visitors took advantage of that by scoring two goals in a matter of three minutes.
Super-sub Matin Mia made it 2-1 for Bangladesh when he utilised a misunderstanding between Chodang University goalkeeper and a defender in the 78th minute.
Rabiul Hasan completed the rout by scoring in the 81st minute by exchanging a one-two with Matin Mia.
Coach Jamie Day believed his charges would have to improve themselves more if they wanted to be successful in the Asian Games.
‘I think that it is a very tough group [Asian Games] with three national teams are ranked far greater than us,’ said Day after the match.
‘So what I can ask the boys is to give their best in each of the games and if they can perform to their ability then we have a chance of getting a surprise result.’
Bangladesh who are drawn against Uzbekistan, Qatar and Thailand in their Asian Games group, will
leave for Indonesia on August 11.
The Games is Scheduled to be held in Indonesian cities of Jakarta and Palembang from August 18 to September 2.
Earlier, Bangladesh began their Korean tour on a sour note when the national team suffered a 0-2 defeat against K-2 second division outfit Gwangju FC. However the U-23 team beat Sehan University by 2-1 goals in their second match.
