A teacher of Habiganj Technical School and College on Saturday hurled acid on the body of a student damaging the back of his shoulder.
The victim Moinuddin Ahmad, 15, a student of farm machineries of the collegiate school and son of Ful Miah of Boro
Bahula village under Sadar upazila, was admitted to Habiganj Sadar Adhunik Hospital after the incident, police said.
According to students of the institution, chemistry teacher Abdul Kaiyum got angry with Moinuddin as he had kept his hand on the table in the class when the teacher was showing them the process of soap manufacturing.
The teacher suddenly hurled the acid from a funnel, which was in his hand, on the back of Moinuddin, leaving him injured.
Habiganj Sadar police officer-in-charge Yasinul Haque told New Age that they arrested the teacher from the institution after the students started a demonstration demanding his punishment.
The father of the injured student filed a case accusing the teacher, the police officer said in the evening, adding that they were preparing to produce the accused before a district judicial magistrate court.
