The Rapid Action Battalion on Friday night recovered 11 street children from a restaurant in Shantirhat Bazar area of Rangunia upazila in Chittagong.
The RAB-7 also arrested the restaurant owner, Kamal Uddin, 25, son of Dil Mohammad of village Rosaipara of Pomra union, along with 395 pieces of Yaba.
Kamal collected the children from Chittagong City, brought them to his restaurant and forced them to work for him, RAB officials said.
Few months ago, one of the children escaped the restaurant and informed it to his guardians, RAB officials said.
The victim’s family filed a general diary with the Tongi police and with that copy he came to Chittagong and urged the RAB 7 to help him.
RAB-7 media officer ASP Mimtanur Rahman said that they conducted the drive around 6:00pm on Friday.
He said that Kamal bought the children from different beggars of Chittagong railway station.
Businessmen of Shantirhat Bazaar said that his behavior was very suspicious.
He used the children for Yaba peddling, they said.
