President M Abdul Hamid on Thursday asked the Ophthalmological Society of Bangladesh to provide eye treatment facilities for the poor and distressed across the country.
He made this call when a six-member delegation of OSB, led by Professor Md Sharfuddin Ahmed, made a courtesy call on him at Bangabhaban in Dhaka, president’s press secretary Joynal Abedin told the news agency.
The president suggested they conduct eye camps at different places in the country so the poor and distressed people can get eye treatment.
He also asked the OSB members to continue the eye treatment campaign in rural and remote areas to create awareness among the common people.
During the meeting, the delegation apprised president Hamid of the activities of OSB and invited him to attend its upcoming international conference as the chief guest.
Secretaries concerned to the president were present at the meeting.
