Bangladesh Bank governor Fazle Kabir ruled out any possibility of change in quality or quantity of gold preserved in the central bank's vault.

‘It's quite impossible to adulterate the gold preserved in Bangladesh Bank vault as there is huge security arrangement,’ he told reporters at the press briefing arranged to unveil monetary policy statement on Tuesday.

This has been the first reaction from the central bank governor following the report of mismatch in the quality and quantity of gold preserved in the Bangladesh Bank vault by National Board of Revenue.

‘We have a six-level security checkup with 42 CCTV camera installed in the vault,’ said Fazle Kabir adding that there was no scope at all to adulterate anything.

Earlier, finance minister AMA Muhith said that there was 963 kg of gold preserved in the central bank vault where only 3 kg was contaminated.
