People rejected BNP in city elections, says Quader

Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Tuesday said people had rejected the Bangladesh Nationalist Party in three city elections held on Monday.
While addressing at a press conference at Dhanmandi 3 office of the party president to give Awami League’s reaction on results of city elections, Quader, also the road transport and bridges minster, said people had rejected the BNP in the city elections of Rajshahi, Sylhet and Barisal.
‘Awami League mayoral candidates won landslide victories in Rajshahi and Barisal city elections and our mayor candidate in Sylhet experienced
a narrow defeated, Quader said.
Referring to the BNP’s demonstration programme announced protesting at the alleged rigging in the city polls, Quader said the people would also reject their protest programmes.
Quader, demanded the vote casting of three city polls held peacefully and as a result the BNP mayor candidate won in Sylhet.
He thanked the Election Commission for holding free and fair elections and also thanked the voters for casting their votes for Awami League candidates.
Joint general secretaries of the party Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, central leaders Hasan Mahmud, Ashim Kumar Ukil, SM Kamal Hossain, Delwar Hosain, Biplab Barua and others attended the press conference.
