Chief of air staff Air Marshal Masihuzzaman Serniabat was adorned with the new rank badge of Air Chief Marshal in the presence of prime minister Sheikh Hasina at her official residence Ganabhaban.
Chief of army staff General Aziz Ahmed and chief of naval staff Admiral Nizamuddin Ahmed adorned the air chief with the rank badge of Air Chief Marshal, PM’s press secretary Ihsanul Karim told reporters.
After the simple ceremony, the prime minister congratulated the new air chief by presenting a bouquet and wished his success. The air chief also greeted the prime minister by presenting a bouquet.
Prime minister’s security affairs adviser Major General (retd) Tarique Ahmed Siddique, principal secretary Nojibur Rahman, defence secretary Akhtar Hossain Bhuiyan, PM’s military secretary Major General Mia Mohammad Zainul Abedin and PMO secretary Sajjadul Hasan were, among others, present.
Masihuzzaman Serniabat has been appointed the chief of air staff for a three-year term with effect from June 12.

8 hurt in CU BCL infighting

At least eight students were injured during a factional clash between two groups of Bangladesh Chhatra League, ruling party backed student organisation, over establishing supremacy in Chittagong University on Monday.
Witnesses said the supporters of two BCL groups called CFC and Bijoy locked into an argument around 12:00noon Kola Jhupri area of the campus.
At one stage both the groups attacked each other injuring eight of their members.
Five injured were admitted to the university medical and three were sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital as their conditions were severe, said doctor Abu Toyab of CU Hospital.
Officer-in-charge of Hathazari police Ssation Belal Uddin Jahangir said police were deployed on the campus to fend off any unwanted situation.
