Three films based on Qazi Anwar Hussain’s popular spy thriller series Masud Rana are on the cards.
Production house Jaaz Multimedia is going to make the films based on three popular novels- Dhwangsha Pahar, Bharatnatyam and Swarna Mrigya- of the Masud Rana series.
Jaaz has recently received permission to make films on the widely read Masud Rana series from Qazi Anwar Hussain.
The production house hopes to produce and release the films in the next five years.
‘Masud Rana is our James Bond. I have long been thinking about adapting the literary character to the silver screen. I hope local viewers, who have read Masud Rana, will enjoy the films’, said Abdul Aziz, chairman of Jaaz Multimedia.
Screenwriters are currently adapting the novels into screenplays. Jaaz will announce the names of cast members for the upcoming films soon.
‘It is indeed a difficult task to select an actor for playing a popular character like Masud Rana. So we will have to be very careful when selecting the actor for playing the lead character in the films’, said Abdul Aziz.
The first film, which will be based on Dhansha Pahar, will go on shooting floors in January, 2019.
Earlier, one Masud Rana novel Bismaran was adapted into a film back in 1974.
