The three-day baul festival featuring performances by local and Indian bauls ended on Saturday on Bangladesh Shilpkala Academy premises.
BSA and Lalon Bisshosonhgo organised the programme titled ‘Indo BanglaBaul Music Festival-2018’.
Leading and up and coming bauls entertained the audience presenting diverse songs on the concluding day.
Popular baul singer Samir baul captivated the audience singing Lolon songs like Ami Kangal hobo bhikhkhe korbo and Ek haate jodi bajto tali, Baul Mukta sang Jaat gelo jaat gelo bole, baul Neela sang Sob loke koy lalon ki jaat songsare, and Deeti Sarkar sang Ke bujhbe oi boder bedhon and Ki die jorabo tomai.
Indian baul singer Banasree Das sang Amar montare boli kmne radha and Bhromor koio gia, Hridoy Sarker sang Mon tor ek barer, Tomare na dekhle radha and bondhu amar doyamoy.
The programme also included to awards programme. The organisers honoured twenty six bauls including Tuntul Baul, Banasree Das (India), Sanjoy Kirtonia (India), Sharif Sadhu, Sarder Hirok Raja, Hridoy Sarker (India), Samir baul, Diti Sarker and others.
Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Vice Chancellor Dr Kamal Uddin Ahmed was present as the chief guest at the closing ceremony. Indian high commissioner to Bangladesh Harsh Vardhan Shringla was present as special guest.
‘Baul songs celebrate human beings the greatest creation of God’, said Dr Kamal Uddin Ahmed.
‘I thank the organisers for holding such a fantastic programme. I hope they will more such events future’, said Harsh Vardhan Shringla.
BSA director general Liquat Ali Lucky presided over the closing ceremony. Lalon Bisshosongo executive director Abdel Mannan was also present at the event.
