Shurangon launched thru cultural show

A new music organisation named Shurangon Foundation was launched through a cultural show held on Friday at Sufia Kamal Auditorium of Bangladesh National Museum.
Renowned singers like Subir Nandi, Fahim Hossain Chowdhury, Dalia Nowshin, Yusuf Ahmed Khan and others entertained the audience singing diverse genre songs at the launch programme.
Subir Nandi rendered Dwijendralal Roy’s inspirational song Ayre chute ayre twora and a self-penned romantic song E kon phagun hridoye amar.
Dalia Nowshin moved the audience singing a Bangla thumri Borosha bhorosha dile nato and raga-based Nazrul song Srijan chhande anande.
Tagore singer Fahim Hossain Chowdhury presented Tagore’s nature song Ami ki gaan gabo je and devotional song Jibane amar jato ananda.
Singer July Sharmili rendered a song of yesteryears Jamuna ki balte pare and Yusuf Ahmed Khan rendered Nazrul songs at the programme.
A 13-member committee, which will run the foundation, was also announced. Syed Saad Andaleeb was named the president, Dalia Nowshin was named general secretary and Sujit Mustafa was named the organising secretary of the foundation.
National professor Anisuzzaman and professor Syed Manzoorul Islam, among others, were present as guests at the programme.
‘Shurangon Foundation will work to promote quality music and will provide the young and renowned artistes a platform’, said Dalia Nowshin.
‘It is indeed good news that a number of talented and dedicated artistes have formed a foundation to promote quality music. I wish them success,’ said national professor Anisuzzaman.
