A group of miscreants blasted two crude bombs early Friday in an election office of ruling Awami League nominated mayoral candidate in the forthcoming Sylhet City Corporation election Badar Uddin Ahmad Kamran.
Local ward unit president of Bangladesh Chhatra League, Sabur Ahmad Dipu, who was present at the spot at that moment, said that a group of some five unidentified miscreants riding two motorcycles blasted the bombs at Kamran’s one of the election offices at Chowkidekhi under Biman Bandar police in the city around
The attackers left the scene immediately after exploding the bombs in the office, Dipu said, adding that no casualty took place in the incident.

They alleged that the miscreants launched the attack to frighten the supporters of Awami League so that they would not go to the polling centres to cast their votes.
Biman Bandar police officer-in-charge Gausul Hossain said they visited the spot immediately after the attack.
A case would be filed after receiving a written complaint in this regard, the police officer said.
Earlier on Wednesday, another election office of Kamran was burnt by miscreants in the city’s Kushighat area and a case was filed in this regard.
