Journalists should not let anybody influence them to twist news, said Shahjalal University of Science and Technology teacher and popular writer Muhammad Zafar Iqbal while inaugurating a two-day Campus Journalism Festival at the university’s Central Auditorium on Friday.
He said many journalists claim themselves neutral, but they had to take sides on certain conditions.
SUST Press Club arranged the festival to discuss challenges and prospects of campus journalism, and to display in-depth reports on some issues.
A total of 250 reporters from 26 universities of the country are taking part in the festival, the organisers claimed.
University treasurer Elias Uddin Biswas, student affairs adviser Rashed Talukder, Modern Language Institute director Himadri Sekhar Roy, Chanel24’s business editor Faruk Mehedi and Bangladesh Journal’s joint news editor Mustafa Manoar Sujan, among others, addressed the inaugural function, with SUST Press Club president Abdullah Al Mansur in the chair.
