Fine arts faculty of Dhaka University and fine arts department of Yunnan University have verbally agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding to hold diverse exchange programmes.
‘We have verbally agreed to sign a MoU to organise different exchange programmes including exhibitions, seminars and workshops. We hope to sign the MoU very soon’, said Nisar Hossain, dean of faculty of fine arts.
We are now working to finalise the clauses of the five-year MoU, which will hopefully benefit students and teachers of both universities, added Hossain.
‘We hope to organise at least two programmes-one in Dhaka and another one in Yunnan, China-every year’, said artist-professor Shishir Bhattacharjee.
To note, students of the two universities displayed their artworks at a group show from July 1 to 13, while teachers of DU and YU displayed their artworks at another group show titled ‘Colourful Clouds Over Silk Road’ held from July 22 to 26.
Cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor, Chinese ambassador Zhang Zuo, artist Nisar Hossain and visiting fine arts teachers of Yunan University, among others, were present at the closing ceremony of Colourful Clouds Over Silk Road held on Thursday at faculty of fine arts of Dhaka University.
Both Asaduzzaman Noor and Zhang Zuo hoped that the teachers and students of both DU and YU will benefit greatly from academic exchange programmes.
The fine arts faculties of DU and YU will jointly organise exhibitions featuring artworks by teachers and students, workshops and seminars after the MoU is signed.
