Police recovered two bullet-ridden bodies of suspected robbers early Wednesday after a reported gunfight between two groups of robbers on Jessore-Chuknagar Road in Kanaitola area under Jessore Kotwali police station.
Identities of the deceased could not be known till Wednesday evening.
Sub-inspector Quyyum Munshi of Jessore Kotwali police said that the police recovered the bullet-ridden bodies of two men after being informed of a robbery attempt at the spot around 2:55am.
He said that they sent the bodies to Jessore General Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
The police officer said that they recovered three sharp weapons, pieces of ropes and sandals from the spot.
Jessore General Hospital medical officer Kajal Mallick said that the duo was brought dead to hospital.
On Tuesday, two suspected robbers were killed in a similar ‘gunfight’ at Monirampur in the district.
One of the deceased was identified on Wednesday as Noor Nabi, 55, son of Syed Ahmad, of Mahadebpur in Lakshmipur district, said Sujon Hossain, son of the victim.
He told reporters at Jessore General Hospital where he identified the body of his father who went missing from Dhaka on Friday.
The other victim of Tuesday’s ‘gunfight’ still remained unidentified, the police said.
