Jatiya Party candidate Professor Akkas Ali was unofficially declared elected in the by-polls to Kurigram-3 constituency held on Wednesday.
Akkas bagged 82,598 votes while his nearest rival Awami League contestant Professor MA Matin polled 79,895, said returning officer GM Sahatab Uddin.
Earlier, voting in the by-election was held from 8:00am to 4:00pm without any break.
The parliamentary seat fell vacant following the death of Jatiya Party lawmaker AKM Mayeedul Islam who died on May 10 last.
