Special Tribunal 1 in Comilla on Wednesday rejected former prime minister and BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s bail application in the second case of burning the same bus at Chauddagram during the nationwide roads and highways blockade in 2015.
Her lawyer Quimul Haque Rinko told New Age that tribunal judge KM Nurul Huda gave the order at his chamber after hearing her bail application for 45 minutes in an open court.
Nurul Huda is also district and sessions judge of Comilla.
On Monday, the High Court Division had ordered tribunal judge Nurul Huda to dispose of her bail application by Thursday.
Quimul submitted that she had no role in the burning the bus on the night of February 2, 2015 as she was confined at her party office at Gulshan which was blockaded by heavy police presence and their vehicles.
Her lawyers submitted in the hearing it was the 2nd case in which she was implicated for burning the same bus for which she was earlier implicated in another case.
On July 17, Khaleda Zia filed a bail application in the High Court Division in the 2nd case over burning the same bus after the tribunal in Comilla kept it shelved since April.
On May 28, the HCD granted her ad interim bail in the first case relating to burning the same bus at Chauddagram.
