Renowned singer Runa Laila, who received several awards at home and abroad, will be honoured with the Feroza Begum Memorial Gold Medal by Dhaka University.
The celebrated singer will receive a gold medal and cheque of Tk100,000 from Dhaka University’s vice chancellor Md Akhteruzzaman on July 30 at Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university.

Sponsored by ACI Foundation, Dhaka University introduced the medal in 2016 named after the legendary Nazrul Sangeet singer Feroza Begum to honour a nationally recognised music artiste every year.
Feroza Begum (July 28, 1926- September 9, 2014) was a legendary musician of the subcontinent, whose unique singing genius made her the queen and the eternal incandescent for Nazrul Sangeet.
In addition, a student of BA (honours) from music department of University of Dhaka with highest CGPA will also receive Feroza Begum Memorial Gold Medal at the university's convocation ceremony.
Internationally acclaimed singers Sabina Yasmin and Rezwana Choudhury Bannya were awarded Feroza Begum Memorial Gold Medal by Dhaka University respectively in 2016 and 2017.
In addition, the best students of music department of the university also received Feroza Begum Memorial Gold Medals.
