All tyres of the right wheel of a Thai Airways plane blasted during landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Tuesday, suspending flight operations for more than two hours.
No causality was reported as the Thai Airways flight from Bangkok landed safely around 12:30pm, said Ziaul Haq, senior assistant superintend of Airport armed police.
Flight operation, however, resumed around 2:30pm when a flight of Jet Airways took off safely, he added.
All the passengers were safely evacuated from the plane, he added.
The incident took place when the right wheel of the aircraft veered off the runway for a while but was steered back on the track instantly, said AKM Rezaul Karim, public relations officer of Civil Aviation Authority.
‘But all the tyres on the right wheel were blasted by that time,’ he said.
However, it taxied perfectly and came to the stand on time, he further said.
‘The skidding spurted muds and grass, spoiling parts of the runway and forcing the civil aviation authority to shut down flight operation for a while,’ he added.
