All tyres of the right wheel of a Thai Airways plane blasted during landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport here on Tuesday, suspending flight operations for more than two hours.
No causality was reported as the Thai Airways flight from Bangkok landed safely around 12:21 pm, said Ziaul Haq, senior assistant superintend of Airport Armed Police.
The operation, however, was resumed around 2:33pm and a flight of jet Airways took off safely around 2:33pm, he added.
All the passengers were safely evacuated from the plane, he added.
The incident took place when the right wheel of the aircraft veered off the runway for a while but was steered back on the track instantly, said AKM Rezaul Karim, public relations officer of Civil Aviation Authority.
‘But all the tyres of its right wheel blasted,’ he said.
However, it taxied perfectly and came to the stand on time, he further said.
‘The skidding caused muds and grasses spoiling parts of the runway, forcing the civil aviation authority to shut down the flight operation for a while, he added.
