Coal miner found dead in Sylhet

A day-labourer was found dead near Jaintapur border in Sylhet on Monday morning.
The deceased was identified as Abu Bakar, 32, son of Abdul Hamid of village Raghupatipur of Jagannathpur upazila in Sunamganj, the police said. Local poeple said that Abu worked as an illegal worker at a coal mine under Ukhiang police station of Meghalaya in Inida.
Abu was killed in a landslide at the mine on Sunday and his co-workers dumped the body inside Bangladesh territory near Lalakhal camp of Border Guard Bangladesh at night, they said.
BGB Lalakhal camp commander nayek subedar Khalil Uddin told New Age that they recovered the body from the spot on Monday morning being informed by local people and handed it over to the police.
Jaintapur police officer-in-charge Khan Md Mainul Zakir said that the body was sent to Sylhet Osmani Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem examinations.
