The parliamentary standing committee on railways ministry on Sunday recommended the government to construct structures on the unused lands of Bangladesh Railway for increasing its incomes.
It suggested the quick construction of structures under public private partnership or sharing or joint ventures as the housing and public works ministry does.
The parliamentary body came up with the recommendation at its 46th meeting held at the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with its chairman ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury in the chair.
The parliamentary watchdog also suggested expediting the reclaiming activities of occupied lands of Bangladesh Railways.
Besides, the committee recommended the government to arrange visit to a country by its members where there are railway colleges or universities.
Committee members railways minister Mazibul Hoque, Mohammad Mizanur Rahman, Md Shirajul Islam Mollah and Md Yeasin Ali attended the meeting, said a parliament secretariat handout.
