ALL the way from Kolkata to the capital’s Banani, The Bhoj Company has brought a unique assortment of Bengali cuisine that might otherwise be difficult to find in Dhaka. It’s the perfect place to relax on a rainy day and have some pilaf or just plain rice with shorshey ilish.
Bhoj Company started its journey in Dhaka this year on May 29. Since then, the general response has been amazing. ‘We’ve been receiving a lot of love and support from our customers and it seems like they’re enjoying the food at Bhoj. We hope that we continue to remain this way and serve novel and delectable items to our guests,’ said one of the partners, K M Hassan.
This is a joint venture of seven people namely Nadvie Ahmed, Anik R Ilias, Fuad Qauder, K M Hassan, Ashiqur Rashid, Rizwan Mustafiz and Rafi Ahmed. After spending half a decade in the food business they decided to push the boundaries and bring something that would motivate the people in Bangladesh. Being familiar with the food of Bhoj Kolkata certainly was helpful. It’s also popular among people who go to Kolkata regularly. All these combined, Bhoj stood out as the right brand to bring to Bangladesh.
Right from the beginning quality has been one of the biggest concerns of the partners. KM Hassan shares, ‘In addition to maintaining hygiene, we’ve had people from Kolkata come to Bangladesh to provide their expertise and training to our partners and colleagues here. They have been our consultants from the very beginning and supported us until we perfected the quality of the dishes. On top of that, our recipes have been made keeping our palates in mind.’
The fan favourites among the Bangla dishes are – Bhetki Paturi,Kochu Bhapa Chingri, Chingri Malai Curry, Mutton Kosha, Shorshey Ilish and the bhortas. These cost between Tk 100 to Tk 475. The most popular Indian dishes are Murgh e Malai, Tandoori Aloo, Mutton Naga Roganjosh, Daal Anda Tarka, Palak Paneer. All these cost about Tk 350 to Tk 450.
Over the past month, the size of the crowd at Bhoj Company has been remarkable. People come here not only for the food but for the ambiance as well.
