The festival, titled ‘2nd Chinese Culture Month-Chinese Movie Festival’, jointly organised by the museum and Chinese embassy, includes some popular films of different genres produced in Hong Kong and the Chinese main land mostly in the recent past.

The visitors of the museum can watch the films for free at 01:30pm and 05:30pm every day during the festival, the museum officials said.

The British-Chinese co-production starring Jackie Chan, Pierce Brosnan, Michael McElhatton, Liu Tao and Charlie Murphy shows a businessman seeking revenge for the death of his daughter, who gets killed in an act of terrorism.

At the matinee show, The Adventures (2017), written and directed by Stephen Fung, will be screened.

The Hong Kong film, starring Andy Lau, Shu Qi, Zhang Jingchu, Tony Yang and Jean Reno, narrates the story of an infamous thief Dan Cheung (Andy Lau) who steals two priceless pieces of jewelry at the Cannes Film Festival.

On the closing day of the festival, the computer animated film Monkey King: Hero is Back (2015) and Rob-B-Hood (2006) will be screened respectively at 01:30pm and 03:30pm on Wednesday.

The Chinese embassy’s culture attaché Zha Mingwei said that the festival was the second initiative of the embassy as part of its public diplomacy to strengthen the friendly relationship between Bangladesh and China.

‘We have selected some popular Chinese films for Dhaka audience,’ Mingwei said.
