Artist Golam Mohammad Joarder has depicted beauty of nature in his third solo show underway at La Galerie of Alliance Francaise de Dhaka in Dhanmondi.
The show, titled ‘Ruposhi Bangla’, features 39 acrylic paintings, the majority of which are abstract works.
Joarder has portrayed beautiful landscapes and different seasons in his colourful compositions. Besides abstract paintings, there are a few realistic ones also. For example, Landscape 2, 5 and 6 are realistic works, which minutely depicts rustic life.
In Landscape 2, the artist has depicted a wide view of a river with boats moored on the back of the river. Joarder has skillfully portrayed the vast blue sky and greenery on the river bank in the work.
Landscape 6 shows black clouds over vast green fields.
In his abstract compositions, displayed at the show, the artist has depicted nature’s beauty through colours and forms.
In his works under The Spring series, Joarder has depicted different seasons using colours like red, green and blue.
Besides, Joarder’s displayed works like Lyrical Image, Various Colours of the Sky, Pleasure of Nature and Moon Light are worth mentioning.
The artist has also depicted environmental issues like river pollution in some of his paintings.
For example, the work titled ‘Crying of the River Buriganga’ depicts river pollution. One of the major rivers surrounding Dhaka, Buriganga is facing serious pollution.
The abstract painting, dominated by black and beige colours, depicts the polluted water of the river Buriganga.
‘Though technological advancements have made life easier, we must not ignore nature. We must not forget that we are part of nature,’ said the artist.
The show, which was inaugurated by renowned artist Samrjit Roy Chowdhury on July 6, will remain open for all until July 17.
