Chittagong Medical College Hospital authorities on Tuesday formed a probe committee as owners of private hospitals on July 8 issued a press statement regarding their strike using government-run CMCH e-mail.
At 5:04pm on July 8, a press statement of private hospitals announcing strike was sent to media of Chittagong using CMCH e-mail address firstname.lastname@example.org.
CMCH principal Professor Selim Mohammed Jahangir told New Age that a three-member probe committee was formed on Tuesday to investigate the matter.
CMCH head of medicine department professor Ashok Kumar Datta would lead the probe committee having Md Hasanuzzaman, professor of neurology, and Mahmudul Hoque, professor biochemistry, as members.
CMCH would take action on the basis of the probe report, he said.
Announcing strike of private hospitals and clinics using government-run hospital’s e-mail address was really very disappointing, he said.
At 10:00am on Tuesday, from the same e-mail address another press statement was issued which said that CMCH office assistant cum computer operator Mohammad Yusuf sent this e-mail on July 8. They later apologised for this.
On July 8, the owners of private hospitals, clinics and diagnostic centres called strike protesting at a mobile court drive at private hospitals.
The sudden strike caused huge sufferings to patients. After 20 hours of strike they suspended the strike.
