Chittagong City Corporation on Tuesday announced a Tk 2425 crore 42 lakh 82,000 budget for the fiscal year 2018-2019.
City mayor AJM Nasir Uddin announced the budget at K B Sattar Auditorium of CCC.
As per the proposed budget, Tk 1,730 crore 50 lakh will come from aid, and Tk 694 crore 92 lakh 82,000 from own sources.
The development expenditure for the port city has been fixed at Tk 2425 crore 42 lakh 82,000. Of the amount, total monitoring and maintenance cost would be Tk 542 crore 87 lakh 25, 000.
CCC proposed Tk 2 crore for the financial year 2018-2019 budget to organise area-wise and ward-wise awareness programme to keep the young generation away from three curses — smoking, drug addiction and extremism.
A new overpass would be constructed at the city’s AK Khan intersection at a cost of Tk 212 crore.
In the proposed budget, CCC allocated Tk 5 crore to tackle the negative impacts of climate change – cyclone, tidal surge, heavy rainfall, land slide etc.
A total Tk 1 crore was allocated to promote roof-garden.
CCC has announced Tk 2 crore for the housing facilities for the freedom fighters. It also allocated Tk 2 crore for the development work for the children with special needs and children with disability.
In his budget speech, city mayor requested the citizens to pay the due taxes.
The budget proposed Tk 15 crore to address waterlogging.
CCC chief executive officer Md Shamsuddoha, chief engineer lieutenant colonel Md Mohiuddin Ahmed, health officer Selim Akhter Chowdhury, councillors of different wards were present in the budget session.
