Three artistes from three recitation troupes recited poet Najnin Mortuza’s poems at a programme on Sunday at Music and Dance Centre of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
Iqbal Ahmed from Muktadhara, Suprova Sebati from Swarabanjan and Tamanna Daisy from Swarachitra recited selected poems penned by Mortuza on diverse issues like love, womanhood, relationship and social reality at the show, which was organised by Swarabanjan.
The artistes recited 26 selected poems penned by Mortuza from various collections of poems like Shuruparampara, Shriradhar Ukti, Mohamaya Kangkabati and Bastaber Lukochuri to the delight of the audience.
Artistes recited a number of Mortuza’s poems about self-realisation namely Tatagato Bhor, Kabi, Gurusanga, Kajori Nadi, Mounojol and Mousumi Megh at the show.
Besides, they also recited poems like Sahaj Prem, Jugolpremer Podyo, Palte Jachche Onubhuti and Narimukti, which addresses human relationship and womanhood.
Professor of Bangla department of Dhaka University Begum Akhter Kamal and professor of Bangladesh Open University Shoaib Gibran were present at the programme as discussants.
The speakers analysed Mortuza’s poems at the programme.
Poet Najnin Mortuza thanked the recitation artistes and Swarabanjan.
‘I feel honoured because Swarabanjan organised a programme featuring my poems. I also want to thank the artistes for their wonderful performance,’ said Najnin Mortuza.
