The bodies of three tourists’ who went missing on Friday at Bashbaria Sea Beach of Sitakund upazila in Chittagong, were recovered near Kachia ghat of the sea beach on Saturday afternoon.
The victims were Saiful Islam, 25, son of Md Kuddus of Jautala area, and Alauddin, 26, son of Tazul Islam of Pasha area, and Md Yasin, 18, son of Shahajahan of Sharasti area of Kochua in Chandpur.
They lived in Chittagong the city’s Jamal khan area and of them Saiful Islam and Yasin were cleaners of Chittagong City Corporation.
Sitakund Fire Service and Civil Defense station officer Wasi Azad told New Age that the rescue team recovered the bodies around 1:00pm.
The station officer said that a group of 23 people of the city’s Jamal khan area went to visit the Bashbaria sea beach on Friday afternoon.
Some of them, including the victims, went to take shower in the sea.
After about an hour, the tourist group found that three went missing and they informed it to the fire service.
A rescue team from Sitakund Fire Service and Civil Defense conducted drives at the spot, but could not find the victims till Saturday morning, the station officer said.
Sitakunda Upazila Nirbahi Officer Torikul Alam told New Age that they would take decision about the bodies as per the instruction of Chittagong deputy commissioner.
Earlier on June 22, two people drowned in the sea while swimming near Bashbaria beach. Local administration shutdown the tourist spot following the incident.
