Prominent stage and screen actress Ferdousi Majumder has authored an autobiography book on her acting career.
The book titled ‘Ja Ichchha Tai’, which has been published by Journeyman Books, was launched at a programme held at National Art Gallery of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Friday.
National professor Dr Anisuzzaman was present as the chief guest at the book launch programme. Bangla Academy director general Shamsuzzaman Khan, International Theatre Institute Bangladesh president Nasiruddin Yousuff, writer Anisul Hoque and others were present as guests at the programme.
Ferdousi Majumder, who grew up among 14 siblings, has recounted her family life, university days, acting career in both stage and screen and more in 17 autobiographical essays published in the 140-page book.
‘These essays in the book recount the story of my life. The book will give readers a glimpse into my childhood days, family life and acting career,’ said Ferdousi Majumder at the book launch programme. The artiste kept the crowd smiling throughout her speech by telling funny stories and anecdotes.
Congratulating Majumder, national professor Anisuzzaman said, ‘Ja Ichcha Tai simultaneously describes Ferdousi Majumder’s family life and acting career in detail. I believe the book will benefit young artistes.’
‘The book brings to light life and works of Ferdousi Majumder. Her passion for theatre, personal life, observations on theatre, life and society and more have been depicted in the book,’ said Nasiruddin Yousuff.
Ferdousi Majumder earlier wrote about her family life in two books titled ‘Mone Porey’ (2007) and ‘Nuri Kahini’ (2010). Besides, she also translated three books including Shovon O Bochon and Pathar Soup featuring children’s stories.
