Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain in a reminder on Thursday forbade district and sessions judges, additional district judges, metropolitan sessions judges and the other judges of the same rank from leaving their stations without prior permission from the registrar general of the Supreme Court.
In a circular he asked the judges to give up the practice of leaving their stations on Thursday before the office hour ends to return to work quite late on Sunday.
He said that many judges developed the practice of regularly leaving their stations during working hours without prior permission from their superiors.
The Chief Justice said that the he had to issue the new circular after the irregular practices came to the Supreme Court’s notice.
Such irregular practices were not at all expected from the judges as they tarnish the judiciary’s image, deprive justice seekers of justice, besides hampering the continuity of judicial administration’s activities.
The Chief Justice warned the errant judges that any violation of the directive would be treated as their misconduct.
