A minor boy who was reportedly kidnapped on June 8 was found buried at the courtyard of their neighbour at Malitha village of Mirpur upazila on Monday.
Police recovered the body of Deb Dutta, 9, son of Pabitra Dutta of the village and a Class-III student, from under the ground by a toilet of their neighbour Jahurul Islam at noon.
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid on Jahurul’s house and recovered the body wrapped in a sack with his hands and legs tied, said Mirpur upazila nirbahi officer SM Jamal Ahmed.
The victim’s father said two miscreants picked Deb up while he was going for tuition on June 8.
Later, in the afternoon of the day, the kidnappers called him over his cellphone and demanded Tk 50 lakh for his release, he said.
However, the mobile phone was found switched off since then and his minor boy remained traceless, Pabitra added.
