Cop stabbed by drug peddler in Narayanganj, 2 held

A cop was stabbed by a drug peddler during an anti-drug operation at Dorisonakanda area at Narayanganj port on Wednesday afternoon.
The victim was identified as Ilias Shah, sub-inspector of the Narayanganj port police station.
Being tipped-off, a police team led by sub-inspector Shah arrested a wanted drug peddler Rabiul Islam, son of Tukku Mia, who was influential in the community.
Tukku stabbed the sub-inspector in his chest while trying to snatch his son back from the police, said AKM Shahin Mondol, officer-in-charge of Narayanganj port police station.
The other police personnel accompanying them were able to arrest Tukku Mia and Rabiul Islam during the operation, the officer added.
Later, the injured sub-inspector was rushed to a local health complex from where he was transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital as his condition deteriorated, said Mahabub Alam, medical officer of the port upazila health complex.
