Finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith on Monday said that he would take part in the next general polls if Awami League wanted.
‘Khaleda Zia or Ershad may contest in my constituency in the next general election. I feel Ershad is more eligible as a candidate than Khaleda because some development works were carried out in Sylhet during Ershad’s regime,’ he said.
The minister came up with the remarks while talking to reporters at the secretariat.
He said, ‘I have personally no intention of taking part in the upcoming polls but if the party wants, I will participate.’
‘I may participate in the polls if prime minister Sheikh Hasina so desires,’ he added.
