Socialist Party of Bangladesh central committee member and Samajtantrik Sramik Front president Zahedul Haque Milu died on Wednesday at Bangabandu Sheikh Mujib Medical University in Dhaka. He was 62.
He sustained critical injuries in a road accident at Ulipur of Kurigram on May 13.
Milu, also the president of Charan Shilpi Goshthi, the cultural wing of the party, was shifted to Dhaka from Rangpur Medical College Hospital and died at Intensive Care Unit of BSMMU around 12:15pm on Wednesday, a party press release said.
SPB general secretary Khalequzzaman expressed deep shock at the death of Milu.
His body was kept in front of the party’s central office at Topkhana Road from 3:00pm to 4:00pm while leaders and activists of SPB, Communist Party of Bangladesh, Revolutionary Workers’ Party of Bangladesh, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal–JSD, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal–JASAD, Nagarik Oikya, Gonoforum, SPB (Marxist), Oikya NAP, Gonosanghati Andolan, United Communist League, Garments Sramik Karmachari Oikya Parishad, Samajtantrik Sramik Front and Jatiya Sramik Jote paid their last respect to Milu.
They body would be buried at his village at Kurigram in Rangpur, the release said.
