Cosmos Foundation in collaboration with United News of Bangladesh organised a dialogue tilted ‘Baul Philosophy, Literature and Music’ to analyse how Baul philosophy is promoting non-communal stance in society on Tuesday at Cosmos Centre.
Cultural affairs minister Asaduzzaman Noor attended the dialogue as the chief guest, while Denver University’s economics professor Haider A
Khan chaired at the programme.
Bangla Academy deputy director Dr Tapan Kumar Bagchi, Lalon researcher and pro vice-chancellor of Northern University Bangladesh Dr Anwarul Karim, Cosmos Foundation executive director Nahar Khan, writer and researcher Sumon Kumar Das and musician Maqsoodul Haque, among others, were present as discussants at the programme.
Asaduzzaman Noor said Baul philosophy glorifies humanism and promotes non-communal stance in society.
Dr Anwarul Karim spoke about the history and present condition of the Bauls of Kushtia, while professor Haider compared Baul philosophy
to those of western philosophers like Nietzsche and others.
Tapan Bachi urged authorities concerned to take necessary measures to preserve and safeguard Lalon’s original songs.
