Four films, including two starring Shakib Khan, have already been finalised to get release at cinemas across the country in Eid-ul-Fitr.
The films are Uttam Akash’s Chittagaiya Poya Noakhailla Maiya, Raihan Rafi’s Poramon 2, Abdul Manan’s Pangku Jamai and Nur Imran Mithu’s Kamola Rocket.
Another Shakib starrer big budget film Super Hero is waiting for censor clearance and the board will watch the film at 11am today.
‘We have been asked to attend the censor show of Shakib-Bubly starrer Super Hero tomorrow (Thursday) morning’, said censor board member and Bangladesh Film Exhibitors’ Association president Iftekharuddin Nawshad.
‘Film exhibitors across the country have been asking for Super Hero. If the film gets censor clearance, film release equation will have major reshuffles’, added Nawshad.
Vice president of the exhibitors’ association Mia Alauddin thinks that exhibitors will make their decision today.
‘Super Hero seems to be the most in-demand Eid film among exhibitors’, said Alauddin adding around 310 cinemas across the country will remain open during Eid-ul-Fitr.
Whether Super Hero gets released or not in Eid, Shakib Khan is dominating cinemas this Eid with Chittagaiya Poya Noakhailla Maiya and Pangku Jamai.
Besides, film lovers will also witness box office clash between Dhallywood actresses Apu Biswas and Shabnam Bubly. Biswas and Bubly have paired up with Dhallywood superstar Shakib Khan respectively in Chittagaiya Poya Noakhailla Maiya and Pangku Jamai.
Raihan Rafi’s Poramon 2, a sequel to Jakir Hossain Raju’s 2013 film Poramon, seems to be the only film challenging Shakib’s dominance in cinemas this Eid.
Starring Siam Ahmed and Puja Cherry, the romantic film has already been praised by members of the censor board after its censor show. Poramon 2 is expected to hit 25 cinemas.
Noor Imran Mithu’s Komola Rocket, on the other hand, is an awareness generating film based on Bangla Academy Award winner writer Shahaduzzaman’s stories Moulik and Cyprus.
The film stars Tauquir Ahmed, Mosharraf Karim and Samiya Sayeed in lead roles. Kamola Rocket will be released at five cinemas.
Besides these Eid films, Dhaka audience will get a chance to enjoy the latest film of the Jurassic Park franchise Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom during their Eid holidays. The film will be released tomorrow at Star Cineplex ahead of its USA release on June 22.
