The inspector general of police, Jabed Patwary, on Wednesday said initiatives have been taken to make journeys of homegoers hassle-free and provide security for them particularly for the nighttime passengers.

He made the remarks while talking to reporters after inspecting overall transport situation on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Chandna crossing in Gazipur.

He also urged passengers be aware of dopers’ gang but known 'malam party' and muggers on the highways asking them to be aware of personal safety.

He also said smooth movement of traffic does not only depend on police rather many other factors are there.

He said special arrangements are taken to smooth exit from Dhaka on all routes and additional personnel have been deployed and control rooms have been set up at different places.

Besides, watchtowers and check-posts have also been set up, he said.

‘We think people will be able to celebrate the Eid properly,’ he said.
