The Border Guard Bangladesh recovered 511 bottles of Indian Phensedyl in two separate drives in Chapainawabganj on Tuesday.
BGB sources said that, acting on secret information, a patrol team of BGB from Masudpur border outpost raided the frontier Bedayetpur area in Shibganj upazila around 3:50am and chased a gang of 10 to 15 smugglers who were carrying bags on their heads.
Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the smugglers fled the scene and left behind the bags. After searching the bags, the BGB team found 320 bottles of Phensedyl inside.
In a separate drive, another team of BGB from Monohorpur BOP raided Tarapur Eidgah field area in Shibganj upazila around 4:40am and chased a gang of smugglers who also escaped, leaving their bags.
The BGB seized 191 bottles of Phensedyl after searching the bags.
The seized Phensedyl were handed over to the Narcotics Control Department.
Commanding officer of BGB-09 battalion Lieutenant Colonnel Sajjad Sarwar confirmed the news.
On the other hand, as part of the anti-drug operation, members of Rapid Action Battalion-05 arrested 13 drug addicts in a number of drives from morning till late night on Monday and imprisoned them on different terms through mobile courts.
