Announcing that the Sunderbans will be freed of robbers by October, Rapid Action Battalion director general Benazir Ahmed on Monday asked the bandits to surrender by this time to escape dire consequences.
He came up with the announcement while addressing a programme marking the distribution of Eid gifts among the forest robbers who had already surrendered to the elite force and inauguration of a rehabilitation project at the RAB-8 headquarters.
About the war on drugs, the RAB chief alleged that a vested quarter was trying to foil the countrywide anti-narcotic drive. ‘However, no conspiracy will be successful,’ he said. RAB members were working to eliminate the demand of drugs alongside stopping their supply, he said.
At the programme, sewing machines were distributed among 20 families while financial assistance was given to four families for education.
apart from Eid gifts to all the robbers who had so far surrendered to RAB.
