Jatiya Party lawmakers on Tuesday slammed finance minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith for the ‘disorder and mismanagement’ in the banking sector.
Taking part in the general discussion on the proposed budget for financial year 2018-19, they said that the finance minister failed to take any measure to protect the banking sector from the looters.
‘Though several thousand crore takas have been looted from different banks, the finance minister has taken no measure to stop the looting,’ said Mohammad Noman.
Criticising Muhith, Noman said that the finance minister expressed his helplessness in taking action against the looters.
‘The finance minister can no way shift the responsibility. He must take action against them,’ he said.
Another Jatiya Party lawmaker Shamim Haider Patwari said that the proposed budget would widen disparity between the rich and the poor.
‘There is no specific guideline for decreasing the gap between the rich and the poor,’ he said.
Patwari branded the proposed budget as a huge size of deficit budget and said that many of the aspects of the proposed budget were not implementable.
‘So, welfare of the people cannot be ensured through a deficit budget,’ he said, adding that the proposed budget did not have an indication for creating new employment.
