Met office on Tuesday issued a heavy rainfall warning for Chittagong, Sylhet and Barisal divisions.
It said that heavy to very heavy rain was likely to occur in the divisions under the influence of strong monsoon in the next 24 hours from 11:00am Tuesday.
‘Due to very heavy rainfall landslide may occur at places in the hilly regions,’ said the warning.
Met office recorded 53 mm rainfall in Dhaka in three hours from 3:00pm on Tuesday.
It issued cautionary signal no 2 for inland river ports in Faridpur, Khulna, Basrisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali, Comilla, Chittagong and Cox’s Bazaar regions.
It also issued cautionary signal no 3 for maritime river ports in Chittagong, Cox’s Bazaar, Mongla and Payra due to strong monsoon in the North Bay.
Fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and not to venture into deep sea.
