Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader on Monday said BNP’s plea to the government to release Khaleda Zia would not produce any result as the government had nothing to do with the sentencing of the BNP chairperson.
While addressing a discussion marking the day on which Awami League president Sheikh Hasina was released from jail Obaidul Quader said the government did not sentenced Khaleda Zia, but the court following a trial jailed her on charge of committing corruption and for this reason the government had not authority to release her.
‘We have nothing to do for Khaleda and only the court can make decision to this end,’ Quader said at the programme at Ladies Club in Dhaka.
Chaired by president of the Dhaka South City Awami League president Abul Hasnat, AL presidium members Matia Chowdhury, Moshrraf Hossain, Workers Party of Bangladesh president Rashed Khan Menon, Dhaka South City AL general secretary Shahe Alam Murad and others took part at the discussion
