Siam Ahmed, who emerged through performing in TV plays and TVCs , is now busy with commercial films.
The small-screen actor has not acted in any special teleplays for Eid and is looking forward to concentrate full-time on films from now on.
Siam, who will make his silver screen debut through Poramon 2 this Eid, has completed shooting of his second film Phagun Hawa, directed by Tauquir Ahmed, which is currently at post production stage. Besides, he will play lead in Raihan Rafi’s upcoming film Dahon.
Poramon 2, directed by Raihan Rafi, is a sequel to Poramon, which was released in 2013. The film was screened on May 13 at Marche du Film, commercial platform of Cannes, under the English title ‘Hell and Heaven’. The film stars Siam Ahmed and Puja Cherry.
‘In Poramon 2, I play the character of Shujon Shah, who is a diehard fan of Salman Shah. The surname ‘Shah’ was chosen to pay tribute to Salman Shah,’ Siam told New Age.
Poramon 2, produced under the banner of Jaaz Multimedia, will contain a song titled ‘Number One Hero’. In the song Siam will sport different iconic styles of Salman Shah from super hit films like Keyamat Theke Keyamat, Bichar Habe, Stayer Mrityu Nei and others. The video of the song was released on the official YouTube channel of Jaaz Multimedia recently has been viewed more than 1,400,000 times.
‘I have been overwhelmed by the response the song has received. I hope film lovers will go to cinemas to watch the film,’ said Siam.
‘We usually go to cinemas to watch film starring established actors. That should not be the case. I would request the film lovers to go to cinemas to watch Poramon 2,’ he added.
Tauquir Ahmed’s film Phagun Hawa is based on Tito Rahman’s short story Bou Katha Kou. The film’s plot revolves around the historic language movement of 1952.
Siam plays the character of a language movement activist, whose father died in Swadeshi movement and mother is a school teacher, in the film.
Popular actress Nusrat Imrose Tisha has acted opposite Siam in the film, while Indian actor Yashpal Sharma played the character of a Pakistani police officer.
The shooting of Phagun Hawa, produced under the banner of Impress Telefilm Ltd, began in March this year. The film is currently at its post production stage.
‘I consider myself fortunate to get the opportunity to work with senior actor and director Tauquir Ahmed. I have tried to deliver my best performance in the film,’ said Siam.
‘Dahon’, directed by Raihan Rafi, began last week.
‘In Dahon I will play the character of a vagabond,’ Siam told New Age.
